George SAYLER born 15/27 October 1853 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Gottlieb SAYLER Sr. and Margaretha SAUER.
George as a young adult was conscripted to and served in the Russian Army during the Russian-Turkish War.
George married Wilhelmina MUTSCHELKNAUS in 1880 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia. This union was blessed with no less than 12 children.
After leaving the port of Rotterdam, Holland on the 2nd of December 1905 George SAYLER and his family arrived at Ellis Island, New York aboard the SS "Rotterdam" on the 14th of December 1905.
Their final destination recorded as Hebron, North Dakota to join George's father-in-law, Karl MUTSCHELKNAUS. The ship's manifest also revealed that George had 700 dollars in his pocket when he arrived in America.
Family members Elizabeth, Christina and Karolina were not listed on the Rotterdam's manifest since they came to America with Peter SCHATZ 5½ months earlier than their parents and their 8 remaining siblings.

Hebron, ND - OUR HERITAGE 1885-1985
Pgs# 325-330:
George and Wilhelmina SAYLER immigrated to America 1905 with their entire family settling on a homestead 12 miles south of Hebron, ND on Sec 28, Twp 138, Rge 90. Some of their first buildings were made of clay and rock with no fences or wells.
The homestead was eventually operated by their son Emanuel and at the present is operated by the sons of Emanuel.

NOTE:
George SAYLER's 12 day birth date discrepancy can be attributed to the fact that the Russian Empire did NOT adopt the "Gregorian Calendar" until February 1918.
Therefore, prior to this date by utilizing the "Julian Calendar" their entire populace was recording birth, death and marriage dates that were 10 to 13 calendar days behind the dates of what the majority of the world was recording!
