Agatha V. Pfalzgraf Morgan, 99, of Rockport, passed away July 3, 2010, at her daughter's home.
She was born Feb. 11, 1911, in Rockport, the daughter of the late Lemuel A. and Lucy Lemix Pfalzgraf.
Before her marriage she worked in the spinning department of the American Viscose Corp. in Parkersburg and continued to enjoy many friendships from that era. During World War II while her husband served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre she continued to keep the happy home.
She also operated Morgan's Grocery in Rockport from 1947-1966. As a homemaker, she was active in community affairs and the Rockport Extension Homemakers Club where she was named "County Belle of the Year". She also was a lifetime member of the Rockport Community Association and was a faithful member of the Rockport Church of Christ.
Surviving are children, Walter L. Morgan (Merilee) of Parkersburg, Ruth Conrad (Clifford), and Sharon K. West (Burl), both of Rockport; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Hans O. Morgan; sisters, Alta Cottrell and June Evans; and granddaughter, Debra S. Morgan.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Evangelists Steve Morgan and Eugene Conger officiating. Interment will be in the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
