RITES SET FOR MRS. HOLMES
Mrs. Elizabeth Holmes died Sunday evening at the home of her son,Wilfred Ressequie, Evansville, Ill.
Her body is being accompanied by rail by a brother and is to arrive today. Mr. and Mrs. Ressequie, coming by car, are expected to arrived this afternoon.
The funeral services are to be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic church.
Mrs. Holmes went to Evanston in mid-winter on advice by her doctor here for further diagnosis to a place where she could be by her son. She had major surgery at the Presbyterian hospital, Chicago, and was returned to her son's home for convalescence.
For a time, Mrs. Holmes thought she was improving and letters to friends here were optimistic, but later she had written she was not feeling well and had no strength. Those close to her had known for sometime the seriousness of her condition.
Mrs. Holmes was born in Illinois, May 6, 1875, and had recently witnessed her 72nd birthday, which friends here remembered with greeting cards and messages.
Mrs. Holmes served as recorder two terms, later was employed in the city clerk's office till marriage to T. H. Holmes, Sr., in 1926. She was then the widow of Albert Resseguie, her first husband.
