Birth: Feb. 25, 1871 Oskaloosa Mahaska County Iowa, USA Death: May 3, 1906 Bussey Marion County Iowa, USA OBITUARY: The following obituary for Rosamond Blattner appeared on Thursday, March 8, 1906, in the Oskaloosa newspaper: "HOLMES - The remains of the late Mrs. Harry Holmes arrived Saturday at 6:05 o'clock p.m. over the Burlington (Rail Road) from Bussey and were taken to the rooms of the mother, Mrs. Lou Blattner, over the Glaze grocery. Funeral service at the St. James Episcopal church Monday at 2 o'clock p.m. and interment in Forest cemetery. Mrs. Holmes died at her home in Bussey at 5 o'clock a.m. Saturday, March 3, 1906, after a long siege of illness of tuberculosis. Deceased was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Lou Blattner of this city. She was born in Oskaloosa February 25, 1871, and had resided in this city until about one year ago, when she removed to Bussey with her husband. She was united in marriage with Harry Holmes, June 7, 1893. Four children came to this union, Charley, Marie, and Harry, who survive the mother, and an infant (Fred) who passed away last July. She had been a sufferer with consumption through a period covering many months. All that the love of a devoted mother and husband could do for the sufferer did not stay the progress of the disease. The sufferer was taken to the west for a change of climate in the hope of betterment, but the decline was steady. She was brought back to her home and given every care and attention to the end. The mother and a brother, Carl Blattner, are the immediate relatives of the bereaved family. The brother, who came from California but a short time ago on account of the condition of his sister, and the mother, of this city, have been at the Holmes place in Bussey some time. The interment will be made beside an infant child. The family have the sincerest sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement and sorrow.
