Birth: Mar. 19, 1848 Xenia Greene County Ohio, USA Death: Feb. 28, 1912 Clark County Missouri, USA OBITUARY: Clark County News, Wyaconda, MO, 7 Mar 1912 Caroline Blattner, daughter of Henry and Laura Blattner was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, ** March 19, 1848. She departed this life Feb. 28, 1912, age 63 years, 9 months and 9 days. She removed from Campbell County, Kentucky, with her parents in the year 1865. Oct. 24, 1867 she was united in marriage to James Whitehead and to this union eleven children were born; 8 boys and 3 girls, of these 2 sons and one daughter have proceeded her in death. Her companion and husband, 8 children -- Albert, Charles, James R., Fred, Frank and Emma, all of Wyaconda, John of Memphis and Mrs. Lillie Saar, of Kahoka; 3 sisters, Mrs. Charles Horn and Mrs. Emma Payne, of Boulder, Colo., and Mrs. Laura Schroeder, of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, John Blattner, of Wyaconda, 6 grandchildren, many relatives and a host of friends survive to mourn her departure. Mrs. Whitehead was converted under the preaching of Rev. Robert Warland at school house in Independence district south of Wyaconda and united with Bear Creek Baptist church, later when the First Baptist church of Wyaconda was organized, she with her husband were among the first to cast their lot by letter with it. She remained a faithful and consistent member unitl her death. She was a good woman and beloved by all. Her death being due to paralysis was untimely and sudden. For a few months past her health seemed much improved. They family were hopeful and thus unprepared for the sudden deluge of grief and sorrow into which they were cast. May their Heavenly Father be gracious to them and comfort them in this grief. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church in Wyaconda by her pastor, Rev. F. M. Baker and her remain laid to rest in the Blattner cemetery. The six sons acting as pallbearers and F. Gerth funeral director. The esteem in which she was held was manifested by the large audience who came through the stormy weather to attend the funeral. **Other sources state birthplace as Xenis, Greene county, Ohio.
