George E. Hoeffner
Ret?d. DOT Insp., 69
George E. Hoeffner of Montgomery, a lifelong area resident and a retired Dept. of Motor Vehicle Inspector for the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation, died suddenly Sunday, December 4, 2005 as a result of an automobile accident. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Ferdinand and Clara Froelich Hoeffner, he was born May 19, 1936 in Montgomery.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a former member of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the BPOE Lodge #1097 of Middletown, and an honorary member of the Fallsburgh Fishing and Boating Club.
In a family statement, it was said, ?He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.?
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Kimmerle Hoeffner, at home; two sons, Thomas E. Hoeffner and his wife, Laurie-Kay, of Montgomery, and David Hoeffner of New York City; a daughter and son-in-law, Crista and Bob Marra of Walker Valley; two brothers, Philip Hoeffner and his wife, Ann, and John Hoeffner and his wife, Edie, all of Montgomery; three sisters, Josephine ?Mickey? Bassett of Edgewood, N. Mex., Clare Earl and her husband, William,of Montgomery, and Marie Pulvirent and her husband, R. John, of Central Valley; grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Hoeffner, Kyle and Kalyn Johnson, and Kristen and Timothy Marra; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Overhiser Funeral Home in Montgomery with Rev. Paul Milz officiating.
Burial was made in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
