Irene H. Briggs EASTVILLE Irene Hoeffner Briggs, 80, died July 1, 2005, in Nassawadox. A native of Floral Park, Long Island, N.Y., she was the widow of Raymond John Briggs and was involved in potato farming with her husband for many years. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary societies and the church fund raising committee. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Beth Briggs of Eastville; a son, Philip John Briggs of Eastville; four sisters, Emma Potter of Moore, Okla., Theresa Hoeffner and Helen Burke, both of Hornell, N.Y., and Josephine Donoghue of Rochester, N.Y.; three brothers, Robert Hoeffner of Eastville, Thomas Hoeffner of Hornell and George Hoeffner of Arkport, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents, Theresa Wulforst Hoeffner and Philip N. Hoeffner; a sister, Marion Dorfer; and a brother, Philip Hoeffner. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Catholic Church by the Rev. Michael Breslin. Burial will be in Cape Charles Cemetery. A Christian wake will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Cape Charles.
