Fred was born on January 17, 1932 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Aloys and Emilia (Olheiser) Frenzel and stepfather Jacob Dauenhauer. He was raised and educated in Mott, North Dakota. Fred spent his early years working for Decker Dairy Farm and HT Ranch. He was drafted in the United States Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. Fred was united in marriage to Christine Kuntz on October 26, 1955. They made their home in Glendive where they raised their four children. Fred was well respected as a diesel mechanic for Houck Transport, Northern Tank Line, and Truck Suppliers. He was honored and more than willing to share his mechanical skills with those who asked for his help. He retired in 2000.
Fred will be remembered as a gentle and compassionate man. He could make a new friend anywhere, anytime with his soft-spoken conversation. He loved to visit with people and cherished spending time with family and friends. He found joy in fishing, hunting, and watching sports especially his favorite sport, baseball. He was a proud grandfather and had a special relationship with each grandchild. He was their number one fan. His French toast and pancakes were requested and loved by his grandchildren as well as the cookies their grandma baked that he generously passed out each time they saw him. We will miss his kind eyes and sweet smile and will always keep him in our hearts.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Edward and Louis; sisters, Barbara Strickland, Pauline Woods, and Christine Smith, and several step brothers.
