Willis Wanner
Aberdeen - Service for Willis Wanner, 62, Aberdeen is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Allan Schoonover officiating. Willis died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at his home. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., with a prayer service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Willis Wanner was born on Dec. 5, 1941, at Eureka, S.D., to Edward and Anna (Gebhardt) Wanner. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He farmed near Eureka and in 1970 he worked for the Bowdle Sales Barn until 1980. He moved to Aberdeen where he worked for Dakota Midland Hospital and later for St. Luke's Hospital for 23 years. On Nov. 20, 1982, he married Mary Kaiser at Aberdeen. He retired in 2003 due to his health. Willis is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He loved going to auction sales, pawn shops, old time music, dancing, traveling and family functions. He had a special place in his heart for Chance, Kenzie and Lane. He had a great love for little children. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife: Mary Wanner of Aberdeen; mother, Anna Wanner of Eureka; brother, Richard (Cecilia) Wanner of Bismarck, N.D.; sister, Sharon (Reuben) Fink of Eureka; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Wanner. Honorary casketbearers will be Karen Wanner, Karen Fink, Kristie Fried, Chelle Torrence, Kristi Dutenhoeffer, Beth Malsom, Erika Kaiser, Ashley Kaiser, Nancy Malsom, Chance Torrence, Kenzie Malsom and Lane Malsom. Casketbearers will be Rick Wanner, Michael Fried, Justin Kaiser, William Kaiser, Joseph Kaiser, Gabe Dutenhoeffer and Steve Malsom.
