Obituary for Wilma Gillogly
Wilma Gillogly
Wilma Kathryn Gillogly, 97
Wilma Kathryn Gillogly, 97 of Ashland, formerly of Cape Coral Florida, passed away early Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 in the Hospice House.
She was born on July 21, 1916 in Caldwell, Ohio to the late Christian G. and Anna Elizabeth (nee Craft) Schell.
Wilma graduated from Summerfield High School, Class of 1933.
After graduating from high school, Wilma took a course of cosmetology and became a hair dresser for four years, a position which led her to meet the love of her life, her husband Lloyd.
She married, Lloyd Eldon Gillogly in 1937 and they celebrated 52 years together, until his death in 1989.
Wilma was a member of St. Edwards’s Catholic Church in Ashland and was a previous member of St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting; but especially, she cherished being a mother and housewife.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, K. Diann (Tom) Reed of Mansfield; five grandchildren, John T. Reed, Matthew E. (Kelly) Reed, Marcus H. (Christine) Reed, Kimberly Gillogly, and Patrick Gillogly; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Melba Charvat of Cape Coral, Florida and; and a dear friend, Norma Morris of Cape Coral, Florida.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Lloyd, Wilma is preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Douglas Gillogly who passed away in 2002; and one sister, Lola Bigler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, OH 44805 with Father Vincent Hawk officiating. Entombment will take place in the Coral Ridge Mausoleum in Cape Coral, Florida. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, OH 44805 and Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805.
