DAUENHAUER, Eva Jeanne
(Sowers)
On June 16, 2008 heaven gained a gentle and loving soul when Eva J. Davenhauer passed away at Deaconess Hospital after a short brave battle with cancer. Eva was born in Spokane, WA on March 24, 1948 to Clarence and Mary June Sowers. Graduated from Adam Elementary and with the first class of Ferris High School in 1966. She gained her B.A. in Education from E.W.U. in 1970 and her Masters in Education from Gonzaga University. Eva started her teaching career as a special education teacher for Riverside and Deer Park School District. In 1971, after the birth of her first son, she joined the staff of Liberty School District where she completed her career after 32 years. After retirement from teaching, she became an educational consultant for Houghton Mifflin for Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Eva is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, and her greatest pride and accomplishment, her sons Matthew (Kettle Falls), and Seth (Spokane). She was also survived by her mother Mary J Sowers (Spokane), sisters, Christen Smith (Tony), also of Spokane and many nieces and nephews, a host of friends, both in the Spokane area and at her winter home in Gold Canyon Arizona. Eva was preceded in death by her father Clarence, brothers, William (Sonny) and Richard Sowers. Eva was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church, Liberty Education Association, Rockford Gun Club and Painted Hills Ladies Golf League. A heartfelt thank you to lifelong friend Judy Bacon, retirement buddy Sammie Fletcher, as well as sister-in-law Gretchen Dauenhauer, the nurses and doctors of Deaconess Hospital and the staff of Dr. Nichols and Dr. Lamoreaux office who showed so much compassion and love through this trying time. A Celebration of Eva's Life will be held at Rockford United Methodist Church Saturday, June 21st at 10 AM. Memorial contributions will be used to establish an education scholarship fund.
