Katharine Markwalter Franke AUGUSTA, Ga. ? Katharine Markwalter Franke, 80, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died peacefully in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Franke, in 1999. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Charleston, and was a graduate of St. Anthony Grade School and Charleston Catholic High School. She was an accomplished organist, playing at several Charleston area churches. She was also active in many women's club organizations. She is survived by her son, George W. Franke of Chicago, Ill.; brother, John E. Markwalter of Augusta; a sister and her husband, Carol and Harry Price of Arbovale, W.Va.; nieces, Catharine Markwalter of Augusta, Pegge Mirus of Cincinnati, Ohio; and nephews, William M. and Tony Markwalter, both of Augusta, Bob Markwalter of Savannah, Ga., John Markwalter of Aurora, Ind. Service will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. Friends may call 1/2 hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, 4510-C Pennsylvania Ave., P.O. Box 12110, Charleston, WV 25302.
