William A. Franke William A. Franke, 78, of Charleston died Jan. 31, 1999, in Phoenix after a long illness. He was retired from C&P Telephone Co., Charleston, with over 40 years' service. He formerly attneded Central United Methodist Church, Charleston, and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 24th Division. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and had attended Morris Harvey College. He was a member of American Legion Post 20, Charleston, VFW Post 3466, Charleston, and Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving: wife, Katharine Markwalter Franke; son, George W. of Chicago. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, with Chaplain K.B. Abel officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where there will be military rites by American Legion Post 20's honor guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Heart Association, 1326 Quarrier St., Charleston, WV 25301.
