John Burkhart, 91, Rittman Published: October 16, 2015 4:00 AM RITTMAN -- John F. Burkhart, 91, of Rittman, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Summa Barberton Hospital. He was born April 21, 1924, in Woodsfield, to the late Edward and Emma (Brown) Burkhart and had lived in Rittman most of his life. John Burkhart, 91, Rittman John served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, where he was called to service during his sophomore year of high school. He married Bernadine Crum on Feb. 19, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1998. He was a tow motor operator for the former Packaging Corporation of America for 40 years, retiring in 1998, and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Wadsworth Eagles Post #2117 and American Legion Howard A. Bair Post #423. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Surviving are sons, Darrell Burkhart of Landsdale, Pa., and David (Lori) Burkhart of Aurora; grandchildren, Tracy (Bill) Goebel of Rittman, Steve (Donny) Cotton of Oklahoma, John (Kelly) Burkhart of Wadsworth, Kelly (Jimmy Villamere) Burkhart of Cleveland Heights, Shane (Tanya) Brewer of Wadsworth, Ryan Maslak of Rittman, Katelyn (Tim) Baker of Nashville, Tenn., Emily (Derrick Holbert) Burkhart of Wadsworth, Brandin (Sarah) Bozsik of Wadsworth and Meagan (Andrew Whims) Bozsik of Rittman; and a niece, Donna (Harry) Kinser of Alabama. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Carol Burkhart Bozsik and Karen Jordan; a brother, Clarence Burkhart; and sisters, Josephine Christman and Juanita Burkhart.
