WERNER, Donald H., 82, of Bethlehem, Wheeling W.Va., died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Wheeling Hospital.
Born in Wheeling W.Va., on February 22, 1927, Donald was the son of the late Louis and Ida Werner. He was a employee of the former Consolidated Engineering Company and was a retired employee of Jarvis, Downing and Emch, Wheeling. After his retirement, Donald worked for many years for the City of Wheeling. Donald was a member of the Cave Club and the Laborers Union in Wheeling. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry, Jack, Edward, and William Paul Werner; six sisters, Sarah O'Grady, Dorothy Monohan, Madeline Teufel, Mary Lou Gavin, Ruth Hackett, and Margaret DiPasquale.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie M. Hill Werner; one son, Michael Werner of Arizona; two daughters, Lou Ann Mulvey and her husband Brian of Wheeling and Mary Beth Gruber and her husband Scott of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Dawn Skrzypek, Dana Goncalves, Christopher Gruber, Samantha Gruber, Scott Werner, Patrick Werner and Michelle Zane; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, that were very special to him.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, W.Va., on Monday, January 11, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Bishops Chapel of Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
