Linda Kile Fitzgerald O'Connor, age 71, of Morrisonville, N.Y., departed from this life on Aug. 31, 2011, to be with the Lord.
Linda was born in Marietta, Ohio, to Ruth Kile (Miller) and Robert Clark Kile. Linda married George Michael "Mike" O'Connor on Sept. 21, 1985. They both retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y. Mike predeceased Linda just this past May 2011.
Linda attended Washington Technical College and UVM in Burlington, Vt. Her most memorable experiences were giving birth to twins, Robert and Erin; dancing as a backup with Edward Vilella and the national ballet in "Giselle," and attending Woodstock. She had many interesting jobs such as traveling to steel mills to purchase steel for the construction of nuclear power plants and tutoring learning disabled adolescents at Pine Ridge School in Williston, Vt. She was a founding member of the Plattsburgh, N.Y., Blue Star Mothers and Dads, a military support group and she volunteered as an ombudsman until poor health kept her from pursuing that.
Linda is survived by her son, David Fitzgerald of Tampa, Fla., son, Robert Fitzgerald and wife, Lisa of Marietta, Ohio; daughter, Erin Caplinger and partner, Paul Gillespie of Washington, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Bridget O'Connor and husband, Alex Williams of Burlington, Vt.; and sister, Barbara Dennis and husband, Bruce of Marietta, Ohio. Linda was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Danyelle, Seth, Kile, Sam and Graham. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews; and cousins, who she always held close to her heart.
At Linda's request, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital - Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Linda's friends and colleagues are invited to a celebration of life at Cricket's Restaurant in Peru from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. At 5:30, there will be time for all to share remembrances of Linda's special life.
