Sherard John Fabacher, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the age of 78 after battling Alzheimer's disease for 15 years. Sherard Fabacher was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of River Ridge, LA. Sherard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Faye Zeringue Fabacher, of 54 years and his parents, Mary Primo Fabacher and Anthony Edmond Fabacher, Sr. Sherard is lovingly remembered by his children John S. Fabacher (Melissa), Donald W. Fabacher (Monica), Thomas A. Fabacher (Joanna), and Tammie M. McCartney (Dennis). Grandfather of Christian and Zachary Fabacher; Donald W., Jr. (Nicole), Chad M. (Michelle), and Jarrod J. Fabacher (Kerrah); Brendon Wilcox; Reaghan and Rylee Fabacher; Devin, Danielle, and Megan McCartney. Great-grandfather of Gabriella, Donald III, Jax, Jhett, and Tatum Lane Fabacher. Brother to Anthony Fabacher, Jr., Mary Nims, and Peter Fabacher. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Sherard was born in New Orleans, LA, in 1936. He graduated from Fortier High School in 1954. He continued his education at Southeastern University and played football under Coach Galloway. He was a passionate man who enjoyed his occupation as a State Licensed Electrical Contractor and the founder of Sherard Fabacher and Sons Electric Co and Fabacher Properties. Sherard was a devoted husband and father. Sherard thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren excel in sports, academics, and everyday life. He was a kid at heart, loved being with people, and welcomed friends and strangers alike. Sherard also had a passion for the game of golf, fishing, and enjoying time with his family in Grand Isle. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00 am, and the visitation will begin at 9:30 am.
