Lucille 'Lucy' Tormaschy
Lucille Lucy Tormaschy, 77, Richardton, died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 13, at St. Josephs Hospital & Health Center. Lucilles Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.
Lucille E. Miller was born April 27, 1932 on the family farm south of Dickinson, the daughter of Joseph and Rosemary (Hutmacher) Miller. She attended Frenzel School south of Dickinson through the eighth grade. She was raised eight miles southeast of Dickinson where she developed her love of milking cows.
Lucille married Victor Tormaschy on April 7, 1953 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Dickinson. They made their home south of Gladstone where they worked for a rancher until the fall of 1953. At that time they moved to Regent where Victor worked for J.P. Jungers. In the fall of 1955, the family moved to work on Raymond Schnells ranch near Lemmon, S.D. In April 1958 they moved to Marshall, to work for Raymond Schnell. In 1963, Victor and Lucille made their home on a farm northeast of Richardton.
Lucille was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Richardton, but has always kept St. Josephs as an important part of their life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, going on vacations, playing cards, visiting the casinos, quilting, and milking cows (which she did up until 1.5 years ago). She took great joy in being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Victor; three sons, Melvin and Vern (Kathy), Richardton; and Jim (Julie), Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Beth and Michael Tormaschy, Jamie (Ruth) Berger, Toby; Jason and Kristy Tormaschy, Cody; Kayla and Gracie Tormaschy; four great-grandchildren, Lexie, Dusty, Owen and Courtney Berger; one brother, Joe (Donna) Miller, Seattle; and five sisters, Betty Kuntz, Dickinson; Rose (Adam) Kuntz, Belfield; Dorothy (Bill) Tormaschy, Dickinson; Evelyn (Richard) Wehner, Dickinson; and Cathy MaChunze, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene on Aug. 15, 1996; her parents; an infant brother; four brothers, Art, Frank, Mike and John; an infant sister; a sister and her husband, Laura (George) Weiler; and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Frances (Christ) Freer and Caroline (Gene) Martin.
