Obituaries for Sunday, 5-22 Statesville Record and Landmark Saturday, May 21, 2005 Aileen Blood Mrs. Laura Aileen Martin Blood, 75, of 860 Pinewood Circle, Statesville, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Blood was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late Richard Martin and Laura Sloan Martin. She was a graduate of Harmony High School and was a retired hairdresser from Forest Heights Beauty Shop. She was a member of First ARP Church and was a founding member of the United Ostomy Association, Statesville Chapter. Mrs. Blood was married first to G.G. (Tom) Goodman, who passed away May 16, 1963, and on Oct. 3, 1975, remarried Don Blood, who survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Blood is survived by four daughters, Susan Blumenstein and husband Otto of Statesville, Jayne Taylor and husband Ronnie of Statesville, Theresa Waters and husband John of Raleigh, and Laura Quinlan of Statesville; three sons, John Goodman of Love Valley, Donald Blood Jr. and wife Debbie of Statesville, and Jeff Blood of Statesville; grandchildren, Josh Taylor and wife Kim, Brandon Taylor and wife Leah, Preston Taylor, Kathleen Goodman, Sloane Goodman, Kristopher Waters, Jon-Marc Waters and wife Elfie, Heather Baye and husband Muhamed, Ashley Blood, Kinden Blood, Emily Holbrook and Kristen Blumenstein; four great grandchildren, Dawda Baye, Isabelle Waters, Eli Waters and Madysen West; and one brother Tom Martin. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph Martin, Frank Martin, Glenn Martin and Bill Martin, and one son, Michael Blood. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Sherer officiating. The family will be assembled at the residence of 860 Pinewood Circle, Statesville, N.C. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Fifth Street Shelter Ministries, 1400 4th St., Statesville, NC, 28677.
