Aberdeen - The service for Alvina (Utecht) Kirschenmann, 85, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Plymouth Congregational UCC, with Pastor Richard Fylling officiating. Alvina died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6:30-8 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Alvina Utecht was born in Coleharbor, N.D., on May 28, 1922, to Henry and Christina Utecht. At a young age, Alvina and her family moved to the Turtle Lake region. They later moved into Turtle Lake, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Minot State and taught for three years. Alvina also worked odd jobs for awhile, then started working for Minot and Bismarck photo shops. In 1946, she moved to Aberdeen, where she worked for Artz Studio and ASC Office. Alvina also worked at Control Data from 1970-1975. Alvina loved sewing and bowling in the mixed league. Her greatest joy was taking care of her granddaughters. Grateful for having shared Alvina's life are her husband, Arthur, of Aberdeen; son, Marlin (Diana) Kirschenmann of Aberdeen; granddaughters: Carisa Kirschenmann of Aberdeen and Kelli (Jeff) Simonsen of Yankton, S.D.; one great-granddaughter, Brynn Simonsen, born Saturday, May 10, 2008; one sister, Dee Westerman of Seattle, Wash.; and brother-in-law, Julius (Mavis) Kirschenmann of Aberdeen. She was preceded in death by parents and brother, Albert Utecht. www.spitzerfuneralhome.com
