ARTHUR "ART" KIRSCHENMANN
Funeral service for Arthur ?Art? Kirschenmann, 84, of Aberdeen will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Plymouth Congregational UCC at Aberdeen. Burial at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arthur died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Visitation will be from 1-7pm, Friday, March 19, 2010, with family present from 5-7pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.
Arthur, son of Gottlieb and Magdalena (Bertsch) Kirchenmann, was born on January 20, 1926 on the Gottlieb F. Bertsch Homestead (McPherson County) southeast of Eureka, SD. He attended a nearby rural school and graduated from high school. In 1945, Arthur moved to Aberdeen. He attended Northern State Teachers College. Arthur worked for Montgomery Ward, National Food Store, Malchow Furniture Co., Traffic Control Dept. for the city of Aberdeen, and for Aberdeen Motors, retiring in 1988.
On March 6, 1949, Arthur married Alvina Utecht, of Colharbor, ND. Art and Alvina had one son, Marlin. Alvina died May 11, 2008.
Arthur enjoyed bowling with Alvina in the mixed league, watching sports on television, attending NSU Wolves basketball games and helping his granddaughters with their homework when they were in grade school.
Grateful for having shared Arthur?s life are his son, Marlin (Diana) Kirschenmann, Aberdeen, two granddaughters, Kelli (Jeff) Simonsen, Yankton, Carisa Kirschenmann, Aberdeen, and two great grandchildren, Brynn and Brody Simonsen, Yankton, brother, Julius (Mavis) Kirschenmann, Aberdeen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and five brothers, Karl, Emanuel, Henry, Edward and Ray.
