Donald Ray Neuhart was the son of Edward Henry and Pearl Clara Standley Neuhart.
He was a 1944 graduate of Bolivar High School and received his B. A. in music education from the University of Missouri in 1951. He received his master's of music at the University of Kansas in 1957 and his doctorate of education administration in 1980 from the University of Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Beula Harris June 2, 1948.
He taught music for 10 years, teaching in Owensville, Willow Springs and North Kansas City. He was also in the insurance business and management for 12 years and helped write state insurance laws for Missouri. For two years, he was the Development Department at Southwest Baptist College, 13 years in the Business Department at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, and five years in the Business Department at Southwest Missouri State University.
He loved to play tennis, but his music was most important to him. He was well known for his trumpet playing. He led church choirs for more than 25 years, and he played with the Southwest Missouri State University Community Band and the First Baptist Church Orchestra in Springfield.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield and served in the U. S. Army Infantry during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was decorated for the battle of The Bulge, and his Battalion aided in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.
Memorial contributions were made to the Alzheimer's Association.
