Thursday (Nov. 25, 1999 ) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne . Mr . Scher , a graduate of St . Mary High School , owned and operated Scher 's Realty and Auction in Huntington and was a licensed auctioneer . He was a former owner and operator of the Hay Market and Raker 's restaurants in Huntington . He was a member of St . Mary Catholic Church , a fourth degree member and life member of Knights of Columbus 1018 , an associate member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 , and a member of Moose Lodge 837 , all of Huntington , Eagles Lodge 549 of Wabash , and Elks Lodge 2120 of Rochester . He was a member of the National Auctioneers Association . He was born Jan . 18, 1916 , in Huntington , to Peter C . and Theresa Miller Scher . He married Jane R . Klinen Sept . 23, 1937 , at St . Mary Catholic Church . His wife survives. Survivors also include a daughter , Mrs . Allen (Helen ) McLaughlin , Pasadena , Calif .; three sons , Thomas N . Scher , Richard L . Scher and James D .
