Ruby Grenz, 78, of Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Jamestown. Ruby Bender was born on June 5, 1935, on the family farm near Venturia, ND, the daughter of Samuel and Leah (Breitling) Bender. She attended country school and worked on the family farm. Ruby and Eugene Grenz were married on September 15, 1957 at the Baptist Church in Venturia, ND. They farmed with Gene’s father until purchasing a farmstead near Lehr, ND where they made their home until 1969. The family moved to Jamestown where Ruby worked at the Tumbleweed, White Drug, and then the North Dakota State Hospital for 23 years. Ruby enjoyed baking cookies for others, walking, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown. Ruby is survived by a son, Bryant Grenz and his fiancée, Heather Seiler, Spokane, WA; three daughters, Carla (James) Elstad, Jamestown, Linette (Todd) Strube, Fergus Falls, MN, and Lucinda (Glenn) Christianson, Jamestown; seven grandchildren, Matthew Grenz, Trapper Grenz, Eric Elstad, Brett Elstad, Grant Christianson, Ashley Strube, and Chase Strube; four great-grandchildren, Larysa, Marissa, Hunter, and Kealy; two brothers, Myron (Betty) Bender, Grand Forks, ND and Oliver (Ramona) Bender, Harvey, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Grenz; daughter, Terry Ann Perleberg; and two brothers, Delbert and Clarence.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Randy Jaspers officiating. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
