Helen L. Grace Crum's obituary appeared in the Toledo (OH) Blade newspaper on April 20, 2006:
Helen L. (Grace) Crum, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Marion, Ohio on December 12, 1920. Helen lived in southwest Ohio until she married her husband, Paul B. Crum. They moved to Lambertville, Michigan because of job opportunities, then moved to Toledo in the mid 1970s. Helen loved to read, fish for perch and work with numbers. For many years she was employed as a bookkeeper for E. and T. Tokles Inc. and for Trackmatic Machine Co. She was known as prayer warrior. Helen loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Aldersgate Methodist Church. She was active for many years in the Women's Association. Helen had a great love for her family and dear friend, Caroline Kirk. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Paul B. Crum in July 1994; baby boy Crum in 1955; brother, George Grace and sister, Betty Cockins. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, son, F. Ben (Jane) Van Nostrand of Vandalia, Ohio; daughter, Paula (Jeffrey) Ballmer of Sylvania, Ohio; sister, Virginia (Dwight) Keckley of Sidney, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jean Zimmerman, of Georgetown, TX. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kristen (Tim) Nicholson, Jeffrey Ballmer and Sarah M. Van Nostrand and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Nicholson. Visitation will be held in the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd. (at Alexis Rd.) on Friday, April 21 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Helen's life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 4030 Douglas Rd. near Sylvania Avenue. Memorial contributions may be given to Aldersgate Methodist Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the donor's choice.
