Sr. Rowena Lucius, SGM (97) died January 10, 2012 at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center, Lawrence, MA. She had been a Grey Nun for 72 years. Rowena was born on August 19, 1914 in Delphos, OH to Charles Lucius and Susanna (Moreo) Lucius. She was the second of a loving family of 10 children. Rowena became a Sister of Charity of Montreal, Grey Nun in 1939. She enjoyed 10 years with the children as child care worker or teacher in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (2 yrs.), Nashua, NH, Lawrence, MA and Toledo, OH and was Director of CCW in Worcester, MA. Sr. Lucius served 15 years in various positions in Grey Nuns hospitals: Youville Hospital, Cambridge, MA; St. Peter Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ; St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH and was support staff at the Grey Nuns Administration in Lexington, MA. For 25 years, she compassionately served in hospital Pastoral Care and Hospitality at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, OH. In 1999, Sr. Lucius retired at Youville Place, Lexington, MA where she continued to reach out to others. Since mid-October 2011 she was a patient at MI Nursing/Restorative Center, Lawrence, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 12:15 PM in the Youville Place Chapel, Lexington, MA, after the Wake of 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. Sr. Lucius leaves behind two sisters: Sr. Mary Clarone, SND of Toledo, OH and Mrs. A. (Virginia) Cadwell of Dayton, OH; also niece Pamela Taylor of Huntville, AL and nephews Albert Gala of Winchester, MA and Philip Verhoff of Fort Wayne, and other relatives and many friends
