GALION -- Thomas W. "Tom" Garrett, 89, formerly of 7714 Middletwon Road and most recently residing at Magnolia Terrace died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Galion Community Hospital.
Tom was born in Beallsville, Ohio, on Oct. 18, 1915, to the late Herbert and Esther (Brown) Garrett. He married Esther M. Bintz on Sept. 28, 1940, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1997.
Mr. Garrett had lived in the area since 1945, coming from Canton. He was a general farmer, carpenter and contractor. Tom liked playing the guitar, enjoyed woodworking and making items for his grandchildren, and was a very hard worker. He was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline.
He is survived by two sons, Bill and Linda Garrett of Columbus, Bob Garrett of Columbus; one daughter, Barb and Jack Stover of Archbold; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Cambridge, Martha McConnell of Barnesville, Margaret Louthen of Reynoldsburg; one brother, Homer and Ruth Garrett of Millersburg; and a special friend, Virginia Rader.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, from 3-7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Calvary United Church Of Christ, Crestline, with the Rev. Ronald A. Kline officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park, Mansfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Church of Christ, or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
