Ackerman, Walter John
Walter J. Ackerman, 79, of 33133 Skin Creek Road, Lewisville, Ohio,died November 5, 1999, at his home. He was born near Lewisville,Malaga Township, on February 6, 1920, (parents: Benjamin P. Ackermanand Elsie Louise Hines). He was a very active dairy farmer for manyyears and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Miltonsburg, Ohio, where he had served on the Parish council for manyyears. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the HolyName Society and a 35 year member of the A. S. C. S. Surviving are hiswife of 52 years, Alberta Mae Stephen Ackerman, whom he marriedNovember 9, 1946; three brothers, George B. Ackerman, of Parkersburg,West Virginia, Edward H. Ackerman, of Lewisville, Lester C. Ackerman,of Woodsfield; a sister, Leota Christman Buss, of Apple Creek; severalnieces and nephews.
Friends were received at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, November 8.Funeral liturgy with Mass was celebrated November 9 at St. John theBaptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, with Monsignor Thomas C.Petronek as celebrant.
Burial followed in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery,Miltonsburg. Vigil services were held November 8 at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist CatholicChurch, 35560 Miltonsburg-Calais Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
