Ruth Irene Ketterling Hoerauf Birth: Jul. 21, 1930 North Dakota, USA Death: Sep. 23, 2012 Fargo Cass County North Dakota, USA Ruth Hoerauf, 82, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Ruth Irene Hoerauf was born on July 21, 1930 in Hebron, ND, to August and Lydia (Sayler) Ketterling. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1948. Ruth attended Minot and Dickinson State Teachers Colleges and the University of Washington where she received her teaching degree. She taught school at Dodge and Wilton, ND, and later at Livingston and Wibaux, MT. Ruth was united in marriage to Roland H.A. Hoerauf on June 13, 1954, in Hebron, ND. Ruth and Roland were blessed to have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. They farmed for twelve years in Hebron, ND. In 2010, the Ketterling-Hoerauf farm was recognized by the state of ND as a Centennial Farm owned by the same family for more than 100 years. Ruth and Roland moved to Fargo in 1966. Ruth was employed by the Fargo Public Schools for a short time. She also gave 40 years of dedication to her church by serving on many boards and committees and by singing in the church choir. Ruth and Roland were long-time members of the F-M Symphony. Summers were spent vacationing at the farm. They also did extensive traveling and visited all 50 states and 9 foreign countries. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Roland, and sisters Mary Opp and Clara Schatz. She is survived by her children Romelle (John) Speral, Regan (Sherri) Hoerauf and Relke (Will) Lancaster, and by her grandchildren Ross (Caitlin) Speral, Alissa Speral, Colton Speral, Lance Hoerauf, Brittany Hoerauf, Joshua Hoerauf, Tamica Lancaster, Stephen Lancaster, and her great-grandaughter, Aliya Speral.
