? WINAMAC ? A funeral mass for Joseph A. Kirchgessner, 80, Winamac, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Peter?s Catholic Church in Winamac.
Kirchgessner died at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, in St. Vincent Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Lafayette, he was the son of Al and Louise Becker Kirchgessner. He was married on May 14, 1955, in Lafayette, to Mary E. Stonebraker, who survives.
He lived most of his life in the Winamac area. He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Alcoa in Lafayette.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He was a member of St. Peter?s Catholic Church and VFW Post 1728, both of Winamac, and American Legion Post 268 in Chalmers.
He also belonged to the Pulaski County Farm Bureau.
He liked fishing, gardening, camping and hunting mushrooms.
Surviving are wife Mary E. Kirchgessner, Winamac; brother Charles R. and wife Dorothy Kirchgessner, Winamac; sister Dolores and husband Jim Kelly, Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.
His father, Al Kirchgessner; mother, Louise Becker Kirchgessner; sister, Helen Zeigler; and brother, Lee N. Kirchgessner, preceded in death.
Rev. Martin Sandhage will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Frain Mortuary. A scriptural wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the VFW and the American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Stroke Association.

He was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Lafayette, to Al and Louise Becker Kirchgessner.He married Mary E. Stonebraker on May 14, 1955, in Lafayette. She survives.
