Col. Henry M. Rund, 55, 304 Columbia, was among nine officers and enlisted men honored at a special retirement ceremony conducted by the Third "Old Guard" Infantry Regiment at Fort Lesley J. McNair, D.C.
Serving as executive officer in the office of chief chemical officer, Washington, D.C. since October 1954, Col. Run retired with over 30 years service on March 31.
He graduated from Quincy College in 1919 and eight years later enlisted in the Army. He was commissioned in 1941 as captain in the Adjutant General's Corps in Chicago. Later he was transferred to Fort Monroe, Va. where he became Adjutant General of the Army Field Forces.
Col. Rund is married to the former Helen P. Decker. They have one child, Patricia Ann. The family is presently residing at 316 Van Buren, Falls Church, Va.
