Jeanne Poulton Buckio, age 84, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Monroe County Care Center.
She was born September 14, 1925 in Woodsfield, Ohio, daughter of James Garfield (Gar) Poulton and Edna Larinda Hubbard Poulton. Jeanne was educated in Woodsfield where she met and later married her long time love, Frank L. Buckio, Jr. They spent 54 years exploring all that life had to offer. As a fighter pilot?s wife, she became a strong, independent woman, raising her three children on multiple military bases all over the world during two wars. Jeanne and Frank instilled in their children a deep appreciation and love of family and country. She was a member of the Woodsfield First United Methodist Church.
Jeanne spent many years working in the retail industry including, interior decorating, boutique shops, owner of the Sears Roebuck catalog store, and Der Kinder Haus, a children?s clothing store. She enjoyed traveling the world, meeting new people, and establishing new homes for her family. Her talent in decorating, design, and furniture were exhibited in all of her homes. Her joy in life was the role of an Air Force wife, mother and grandmother.
Jeanne is survived by three children, Jeffrey Charles Buckio and his wife, Melodi, Reno, NV; Jennifer Buckio Henthorn and her husband, Mark, Woodsfield, OH; Joellen Buckio and her husband, Charles Ephland, Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shane Garfield (Carla) Kuntz, Cambridge, OH; Shannon Kuntz (Bill) Winland, Antioch, OH; Arianne Buckio (Mitch) Clouse, Dublin, OH; Courtney Buckio (Brian) Cherry, Chesterfield, VA and two great grandchildren, John Andrew Clouse, Dublin, OH and Carlee Katlin Kuntz, Cambridge, OH. Other survivors include three nieces, three nephews, and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lt Col. Frank Leroy Buckio Jr, brother, Lt. Col. Kenneth V. Poulton and one niece.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 136 N. Main Street, Woodsfield. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
