Edna Littke, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Mercer, died Nov. 23, 2004, at her home surrounded by family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mercer, with the Revs. Randy Emgarten and Jo Pfenning officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Edna was born Jan. 22, 1920, at rural Mercer, the youngest of 10 children born to Jacob and Louisa (Gessele) Bender. Edna was reared in the rural Mercer area and attended school there. She married Ernest Littke Oct. 10, 1940, at McClusky. The couple lived and farmed 10 miles north of Mercer until 1947, when they purchased a farm six miles north of Mercer. In addition to being a housewife and farmer's wife, Edna managed the Hi-Way Cafe in Mercer from July 1958 to October 1959. Ernest and Edna sold their farm in 1972, but continued to live there until moving to Bismarck in 1991. Ernest passed away in April 1991. Edna was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Mercer and was an associate member of Peace Lutheran Church in Lincoln, ND. She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. Her quilts will be keeping her family warm for many generations.
Survivors include one son, Jerry, Hillsboro; Survivors include: 1 Son: Jerry Littke of Hillsboro; two daughters, Janet Funston, Bismarck, and Susan (Eugene) Brown, Fargo; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Mayer, Bismarck, and Hilda Flemmer, Turtle Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers John and Henry; and five sisters, Lydia Eman, Bertha Kleingartner, Justina Just, Emma Dallman, and Esther Howry. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)
