Richard Greenbank and Mary Kennedy were married on May 16, 1865. Richard Greenbank was a native of Lewisville, Monroe County, Ohio and was born on April 13, 1836. He was the son of William Greenbank (b: December 11, 1782; d: March 12, 1866) and Rebecca Fisher (b: January 31, 1807; d: September 16, 1888). Richard's occupation was farming. The children of Richard and Mary Greenbank were: Martha Jane (b: September 25, 1866); Willie K. (b: May 8, 1869); Minnie R. (b: October 4, 1870; d: June 1, 1880); Rebecca I. (b: April 4, 1874; d: September 1, 1874); Mary S. (b: September 16, 1875); Ida M. (b: October 20, 1877); and Charles A. (b: January 10, 1880). Mary Kennedy Greenbank was the daughter of William Kennedy (b: November 27, 1805; d: May 23, 1869) and Martha Todd (b: August 11, 1818; d: August 9, 1963). William Kennedy immigrated from Ireland in 1827 and settled in Monroe County, Ohio, in 1832. William Kennedy and Martha Todd were married on January 3, 1839. Richard's father, William Greenbank, came from Yorkshire, England, when a young man and located in Wheeling, West Virginia for 6 years. About 1828, he settled in what is now the central part of Summit Township. The country was then new, only here and there a cabin; plenty of game and wild animals, but no highways, churches or schools. He assisted in organizing Summit Township, and voted at its first election. William Greenbank married Rebecca Fisher on April 11, 1835. Rebecca Fisher was the daughter of John and Sarah (Faucett) Fisher, natives of Virginia, who settled in Monroe County, Ohio about 1805. Richard Greenbank held the office of township trustee for 6 years, beginning in 1892. Three of his brothers, William, John and George, were in the Civil War.
