Matthew M. Briltz December 30, 2005 Sept. 8, 1921 ? Dec. 25, 2005 Matthew M. Briltz, of Broomfield, died of natural causes Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in Thornton. He was 84. The son of Marcus Briltz and Molly Aspenlider Briltz, he was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada. He married Anne Fabian on Nov. 16, 1941, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mr. Briltz moved to Broomfield in 1999. After serving in the Canadian Army during World War II, he worked as a railroad switchman from 1945 until 1954. He then worked for North Dakota State University as a stationary engineer until 1985. Mr. Briltz was a member of Fargo Curling Club and Fargo Eagles Aerie, and he was a Red Cross blood donor. He enjoyed gardening, and playing golf and billiards. "He lived his life with gusto," his family said. "He loved his family, the outdoors, animals, sports and dancing." Survivors include his wife, of Westminster; two daughters, Paulette Cart, of Broomfield, and Sandra Norrie, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; two brothers, Ray Briltz, of Regina, and Mike Briltz, of Estevan; a sister, Marie McLemore, of Montgomery, Texas; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette. Pastor Duane Roll will officiate. Interment will take place at Coal Creek Cemetery, 10203 E. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
