Pederson, 84, of Wessington Springs, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at home. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Basham Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Leona A. Schnabel was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Beadle County to Edward and Helen (Neuharth) Schnabel. On July 27, 1941, she married Oswald Pederson at Huron. They lived and farmed on his father's homestead north of Wessington Springs until retiring to Wessington Springs in 1987. In 2001 she moved to Hillcrest Heights. She was a past member of the Esther Circle at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was active in the weekly activities at Hillcrest Heights. She loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (( Wayne) Grohs of Wessington Springs; a son, Jerry (Sheila) of Mitchell; two sisters, Hazel (Al) Runge of Huron and Phyllis (Jack) Younie of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Elmer of Redfield; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren ; four great-grandchildren ; and two stepgreat-grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; two brothers, Lee and Bob; and a sister, Luella Kogel.
