Obituary of R. Eugene Nuss

Funeral services for R. Eugene Nuss were held Thursday, August 31, 1989, at Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ, Tripp, with the Rev. Henry Roemer officiating. Music was provided by Shelley Finck, organist, and Keith Stoebner, soloist.
Interment was made in the Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery, Tripp, with Petrik-Kelley Funeral Home in charge of arrangemets.
Pallbearers were Merlin Gramm, Leroy Dewald, Darwin Nuss, Arlington Patzer, Dennis Schaefer and Allen Schaefer.
R. Eugene Nuss was born August 31, 1912, at rural Tripp, South Dakota. His parents were Philip and Eva (Kirschenmann) Nuss. Eugene married Vesta Schaefer on March 25, 1940, at Delmont, S.D. They farmed on the family farm until December of 1965 and moved into Tripp in September of 1967. He was a member of the Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ.
Eugene was a 4-H member for many years. He also served on the District 90 School Board, was a Township Supervisor for the Kulm Township and served as a Community ASCS office in Hutchinson County.
Eugene died on MOnday, August 28, 1989, at St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston, S.D., at the age of 76 years.
Surviving are his wife, Vesta of Tripp; three sons, Wayne and wife, Nancy of Washingtonville, New York, Marlin and wife, Karen of Tripp, Ronald and wife, Carolyn of Alcester; two daughters, Geraldine Sattler of Springfield, Virginia and Mrs. Terry (Tamara) Hubka of Cheyene, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Patzer of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Ida Hofer of Mitchell; and two step-sisters, Esther Mehlhaff of Kaylor and Oliva Schnabel of Menno.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one step-brother and five step-sisters.
