Valentine Henry Rueb, age 91, died at Ave Maria Nursing home on October 20, 2017.
He was born October 23, 1925 to Henrich Rueb and Phillipina (Bauer) in Wishek, ND. He grew up on the family farm near Wishek, where he also attended public school through the 8th grade.
He married Olga Vilhauer on October 22, 1948. After farming for several years in the Streeter area, they moved to Jamestown in the fall of 1954 where he worked for the Jamestown Public Schools first as a custodian, then after completing coursework, as a boiler maintenance supervisor. In 1991 and after 33 years of service, he semi-retired at age 65.
Throughout his life he was an active member of the local church, first at the Streeter Assembly and at First Assembly of God in Jamestown, ND where he served as a Sunday school teacher, board member, deacon and choir member. He also taught Sunday school at Hi Acres Manor in Jamestown for many years.
Valentine is survived by his wife of 69 years, Olga, 4 children, Daniel (Susie) Rueb, Poulsbo, WA, Kathy Simon (Jeff), Green Bay, WI, Clyde Rueb, Jamestown, ND, Renae Hansen (David), Moorhead, MN, 1 brother, Oscar Rueb, Bismarck, ND and 6 grandchildren, Jason Simon (Grace), Madison, WI, Krista Ewing, Madison, WI, Danielle Castillejo (Luis), Poulsbo, WA, David (Amy) Jakarta, Indonesia, Leah Hansen, Scottsdale, AZ, Cassie Hansen, Duluth, MN. He was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, Nathan Simon, Magdalen Simon, David Simon, Jonathan Simon, Daniel Simon, Julia Simon, Luca Castillejo, Julie Castillejo, Estella Castillejo, Benjamin Castillejo, Lydia Ewing & Monica Ewing.
Valentine was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, George Rueb, Christ Rueb, Raymond Rueb, and Aaron Rueb, and his sisters, Martha Huber, Erna Peltz and Emma Peltz.
Visitation begins 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 27 followed by a 7:00 P.M prayer service at Eddy?s Funeral Home, 621 1st Avenue S. Jamestown, ND. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 28, 10:00 A.M. 2017 at the First Assembly of God church, 1720 8th Avenue SW, Jamestown, ND. Relatives and friends are welcome to the service and the reception at the church directly following the service.
Interment will be held at the Streeter cemetery in Streeter, ND the afternoon of Saturday, October 28. 2017.
