Kenneth E. Livernois, age 80, of Shepherd, passed away on Tuesday September 13, 2011, at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma.
Funeral services will be Friday at the Berry Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with interment in the Salt River Cemetery with Reverend Larry Fussman officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Kenny was born on August 2, 1931, in Detroit to Albert and Bertha (Schutz) Livernois. He married Ruth Pressley, from Tennesee, on May 14, 1955, in Detroit. Ruth preceded him in death in 2000. Kenneth served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Bausell DD845. He was a member of the Shepherd VFW Post and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He retired from Consumers Power in 1992 after many years of service. After spending most of his life in Westland he moved to the Shepherd area to be near his family. He was an avid softball player and had dreams of playing for the Detroit Tigers. He was also an avid bowler and participated in the Senior Olympics.
Kenny is survived by his companion, Nancy Francetic of Breckenridge; Two daughters, Barbara (David Lipski) Livernois of Shepherd, and Karen (Jeff) Fussman of New Port News, VA.; Granddaughter Kayla Livernois of New Port News, VA.; Four brothers, Robert Livernois of Wisconsin, Donald Livernois of Fla., Lee Livernois of Taylor, Allan Livernois of Detroit; Two sisters, Beverly Vitoratis of Houghton Lake, and Barbara Pressley of Melvindale.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Erwin, and two sisters Dorothy Westphal and Louella Muck.
Kenny's daughter Barbara will host a memorial softball game in the spring in honor of him.
