George H. Rueb
Ashley, ND ? The funeral service for Pastor George H. Rueb, 89, of Ashley was held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ryan Maxted officiated.
Burial was in the Ashley City Cemetery.
He died October 3, 2006 at the Ashley Medical Center.
George H. Rueb, son of Heinrich and Philipina (Bauer) Rueb was born February 13, 1917 southwest of Wishek, on his parent?s farm. He attended country and Wishek Public School.
He was united in marriage to Alma Sayler on March 11, 1937 at Wishek. He served a church as Pastor in Venturia as they made their home on a farm southwest of Wishek until February of 1942. They then moved to Streeter, where he was a Pastor of a Church. He and his family and ministry moved to Medina, in 1951 and in 1955 the Rueb?s received a call to Pastor the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ashley where they served from August of 1955 through 1963. They then served churches in Cleveland, Ohio, Santa Clara, California and Tacoma, Washington. During his public ministry, he pioneered six Assembly of God Churches. In 1956, he began his career on the radio with a show in German language called ?Hour of Worship? airing on Aberdeen, S.D. and Mobridge Radio for a total run of 45 years. He accepted invitations to travel to Mexico and Canada to minister in the German language. His wife, Alma, died September 24, 1997. He continued to make Ashley his home.
He was then united in marriage to Lenora Deutscher in November of 1998 at Ashley. They were married by George?s son, Rev. David Rueb. They made their home in Ashley. His wife, Lenora, died November 19, 2001. He continued to live independently in his home.
He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church at Ashley, Executive Presbyter of the German District of the Assemblies of God Church and past treasurer for the Dakota Conference of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, Adolph (Dorene) Rueb of Ashley and Rev. David (Rita) Rueb of Buchanan, Michigan, one daughter, Ruthie (Leo) Vilhauer of Leola, S.D., four brothers, Christ (Cindy) Rueb of Lodi, Calif., Valentine (Olga) Rueb of Jamestown, Raymond (LaVern) Rueb of Phoenix, Ariz. and Oscar (Nettie) Rueb of Bismarck, one sister, Emma Peltz of Glen Ullin, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
His parents, wives, two infant sisters, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Honorary Casketbearers were Rev. Donald Hill, Rev. Ray Rueb, Rev. Dennis Niles, Rev. Darwin Stahl, Rev. Dan Kuno and Rev. Ray Kapp.
Casketbearers were Kirk Rueb, Byron Rueb, David Heyd, Deon Vilhauer, Hardy Rueb and Reinhold Deutscher.
The organist was Tim Peterson and special music was by Sybil and Tim Peterson.
The family prefers memorials be sent to Bethel Assembly of God Church, PO Box 199, Ashley, ND 58413.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley was entrusted with the arrangements.
