Leona Olivia Reiswig, 88, of Lodi, CA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2007. Born on June 7, 1918 in Leola, South Dakota to parents, Edward and Mary Renschler.
Leona was preceded in death by her husbands; Alvin Rueb and Henry Reiswig, infant brothers; Aaron and Bobby Renschler, grandson Greg Kissinger and son-in-law Simon Molini. Leona is survived by her sister Violet Mecum, five daughters and son-in-laws, Betty and Barney Kissinger, Gloria and Jud Berggren, Debbie and Dennis Marlow, Brenda Molini, Verlinda and Steve Carey. Grandma to twelve; Peggy, Derrick, Mike, Steve, Bryon, Marisa, Mindy, Mario, Gina, Anna, Zac, Chris and Great Grandma to six; Jaime, Jordan, Robyn, Ravyn, Samantha and Blake.
Leona grew up in Leola, South Dakota where she married her first husband Alvin Rueb and had Betty, Gloria and Debbie. After Alvin's passing, she moved to Lodi with her three daughters in 1952 where she lived for the past 55 years. Later she married Henry Reiswig and had her last two daughters, Brenda and Verlinda. Henry passed in 1971. Leona worked in various jobs such as house cleaning, packing cherries, working in the grape fields, Diamond Walnut in Stockton and at Vista Ray Convalescent Hospital in Lodi for 17 years as a cook. Her most important and rewarding job was taking care of her grandchildren every chance she could.
Leona lived a full and very busy life after experiencing so much throughout her 88 years. She loved her family dearly and took great pride taking care of them by stuffing them with only the best German food such as her famous kuchen, cheese buttons and so many casseroles. Grandma was always known for surprising her grandkids with special chocolate treats and big kisses good-by. She will be sorely missed
Visitation will be on Friday Feb. 23rd between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm and Saturday Feb. 24th between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 25, at 12:00 p.m. at the Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. in Lodi with committal to immediately follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Elder Mike Solazzo will be officiating. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared.
