NESTOR J. “NES” BURKHART, 88, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, formerly of Beallsville, passed away on August 6, 2014.
He was a loving father to Mary (Richard) Bondy of Cleveland, Patrick (Debra) Burkhart of Slippery Rock, PA, Margaret (Glenn) Daehn of Columbus, and Eileen Burkhart of Cleveland; beloved grandfather of Andrew, Katrin and Matthew Daehn, Mackenze and Quinn Burkhart, Nicole and Katherine Bondy; dear brother of Rita Langevin of MA, Lola Tremblay of Beallsville, and Mary Catherine (Paul) Farley of Macedonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Kate Burkhart, his brother, Robert, his former wife, Lucille Steiner Burkhart, two brothers-in-law, William Langevin and George Tremblay, and his devoted friend, Marie Ostergard.
Nes was the definition of a gentleman. He was a devoted and generous family man, cherished friend of many, a proud and loyal alum of John Carroll University, and a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He believed in the value of stewardship and was a longtime St. Vincent de Paul Society board member and volunteer. Nes was a world traveler and cherished his time at home with his grandchildren. He served as Treasurer of American Brass Manufacturing for 25 years, after a lifetime career in Finance.
A funeral Mass was held at Gesu Church in Cleveland on August 12. Burial will be held Saturday, November 15 at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Ozark with a small reception to follow at the Switzerland of Ohio Country Club.
