  [S927] Obituary. From: "Ruth Davison" Subject: Mrs. Christ (Maria Hieb) Opp obit 1893-1971 Date: Thu, 23 Jun 2005 12:46:34 -0700 Funeral services for Mrs. Christ G. (Maria) Opp, 77, resident of the Lutheran Home, were held Monday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eureka with the Rev. Emanuel Gackle of Aberdeen officiating. Mrs. Opp passed away at the Lutheran Home on Thursday, July 8, following an illness of about four months. She was born at Hosmer on Nov. 10, 1893, to Mike and Louisa nee Job. On Dec. 5, 1916 she was married to Christ G. Opp at Hosmer. They made their home at Eureka and since June 16, 1971, have been residents at the Lutheran Home. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eureka. Survivours include, her husband, Christ G., Lutheran Home, Eureka; three sons, Edwin G. and Norman, Pierre; and Edward, Groton; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Aman, Hosmer; and Mrs. Enoch (Norma) Merkel, Lead; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers. Casket beares were Jacob Kramlich, Ed Gill, Ed jakober, LaVern Kary, Harold Schaeffer, and Sam Vilhauer. Interment was in the City Cemetery at Eureka under the direction of Straubs of Eureka [S558] South Dakota Marriages, 1905-1949.
