Her funeral was July 1 at the First Baptist Church in Eureka. The Rev. Perry Schnabel officiated. Burial was at the Eureka City Cemetery with Straub's Funeral Home in Eureka in charge of arrangements. Ada Bender was born June 24, 1914 to Martin W. and Fredericka (Schnabel) Bender near Zeeland, ND. She married Carl Ackerman Jr. on March 8, 1934, at Greenway Baptist Church,Greenway, McPherson County, SD. They lived on a farm 14 miles northwest of Eureka until moving into Eureka in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eureka. She enjoyed preparing meals and treating her grandchildren to snacks. Survivors include her husband, Carl; two sons, Larry Ackerman, Mina, SD. and Curtis Ackerman, Eureka; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Carla) Werlinger, Zeeland; two sisters, Mrs. Tom (Ella) Hudson, Clovis, and Mrs. Ivan (LaRue) Opp, Aberdeen, SD.; four brothers, Alfred Bender, Lodi, CA, Rueben Bender, Ipswich, SD, Jake Bender, Dubuque, Iowa, and Gideon Bender, Clovis NM; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one grandchild. Casket bearers were Jody Ackerman, Toby Ackerman, Ryan Ackerman, Kim Rohrbach, Jason Rohrback and Curt Sandquist. Organist was Esther Grosz, soloist was the Rev. Perry Schnabel, and the Baptist Men's Quartet also sang.
