Reinhold "Riney" A. Bender, 84, died at Lodi Memorial Hospital.
Riney moved to Lodi from his birthplace of Zeeland, ND. and held several jobs in the wine and farm industry before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After the war, he operated a Richfield/Arco service station until retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Bender, of Lodi; a daughter, Shirley Kemp of Galt; a son Jim Bender of Lodi; a sister, Eleanor Schmierer of Fresno; two step-sisters, Bertha Kammerer of Lodi and Mary Schultz of Elk Grove; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bender in 1992; a sister Christine Pankow; seven stepbrothers; George, August, Robert, Emil, Jacob, Albert and Adolph Knoll; and six step-sisters, Emma Grenz, Katie Lippert, Christina Goehring, Martha Knoll, Phillpina Knoll and Ida Batch.
