FRED AND HELENA MUTSCHLER
Fred and Helena Mutschler
Fred Mutschler was born September 12, 1893 to Christian and Fredericka
(Christman-Heilman) Mutschler who had emigrated to America from South Russia
then homesteaded in Gluecksthal Township four and one-half miles northwest of
Eureka.
Fred's brothers and sisters were: John, William, Mathew, Adam, Julius, Mrs.
John (Barbara) Schaedler and Mrs. Jacob (Christina) Schock.
Half-brothers and sisters were: Christian, Mary, Margaret, Katy Mutschler and
Jake, Emanuel Heilman and Margaret (Heilman) Wenzel.
On March 13, 1917 Fred married Helena Oster, born November 19, 1896, the
daughter of Christian and Margaretha (Pfitzer) Oster. The Osters also emigrated
to America from South Russia and homesteaded about seven miles northwest of
Eureka in Gluecksthal Township. Brothers and sisters of Helena were: John,
Henry, Mathias, Philip, Mrs. John (Mary) Brunemaier, and Mrs. John (Lena)
Friske.
Fred and Helena lived on a farm two miles northwest of Eureka and later moved
to the Mutschler homestead farm four and one-half miles northwest of Eureka.
They farmed there until their retirement in 1955, then moved to Eureka to make
their home.
Children born to them are: Herbert, married Lucille Gross, living in Bellevue,
Washington; Ellenora, Mrs. Alvin Knittel, passed away in 1953; Iona, Mrs. Allan
Koerner, Eureka; Marvin, married Ruth Rau, living near Eureka; Clarence,
married Eunice Loebs and living in Clark, South Dakota.
Fred Mutschler passed away November 11, 1955.
Helena Mutschler passed away November 23, 1982.
