Alton Schweinforth, 96, June 26, 1908 - September 7, 2004 Funeral services for Alton Schweinforth were held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at United Church of Christ, Scotland, with the Rev. Del Neumeister officiating. Music was furnished by the congregation and Sharon Orth, organist. Interment was made in the Rosehill Cemetery, Scotland, with Goglin-Kelley Funeral Chapel, Scotland, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Aaron Hansen, Ron Orth, Allen Stoebner, Duane Weisser, LeRoy Weisser, and Harlan Winckler. Alton Reinhold Schweinforth was born on June 26, 1908, near Scotland. His parents were Emil and Pauline (Berreth) Schweinforth. He was baptized at the Newburg Congregational Church and was confirmed on June 24, 1923, at the Scotland Congregational Church. He was a member of the United Church of Christ until his death. He attended eight grades at Blaha School District #87. He married Paulina Jenner on March 19, 1931, and they farmed together until her death on December 28, 1955. He married Johanna Losing on September 9, 1956. They continued farming until they retired and moved to Scotland in 1965. Johanna died on November 3, 1995. He moved to R&S Village and then to the Scotland Good Samaritan Center where he lived until his death on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital, Scotland. He attained the age of 96 years. He is survived by two grandchildren, Karen (Goeken) Brazelton and husband, Bruce, Sunbury, Ohio, and Wayne Goeken, Erskine, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Aaron (Tessa) Hansen and Heidi Hansen; daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Robert) Goeken, Scotland; three step-grandchildren, Ron (Sheila) Goeken, Donna Gadbois and Joyce (Kerry) Frey; two sisters, Leona Weisser, Rapid City, and Martha Weisser, Tripp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paulina in 1955; wife, Johanna in 1995; son, Ruben in 1957; son, Raymond in 1986; three brothers, Art, Reinhold and Leon; and four sisters, Ida, Lora, Emma and Clara.
