  [S927] Obituary. Sioux Falls: Andrew Charles Schnabel passed away on June 7, 2009, at Sanford USD Medical Center. A private family interment will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at Miller West Funeral Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St. Memorials may be directed to the . Andy was born on April 16, 1941, to Edwin and Esther (Bertsch) Schnabel at Eureka, S.D., where he also received his education. He married Betty Kirschenman at Aberdeen, S.D., on Feb. 14, 1962, and then entered the United States Navy on Feb. 15, 1962. A daughter, Karen, was born while he was stationed in Texas. He retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer after serving twenty-one years. Andy went on to complete his education at National University and obtained a master's degree in business in 1986, while living in San Diego, Calif. In 1992, he moved to Sioux Falls. He married Audrey Ackerman on March 12, 1994, and worked at Business Resources until his retirement. Andy was a member of Trinity Reformed Church. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife, Audrey of Sioux Falls; daughter, Karen and former wife, Betty, both of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Geri Beck of Sioux Falls; brother, Gene (Lori) of Casa Grande, Ariz.; two stepsons, Todd (Rachel) Ackerman, of Montgomery, Ala., and Terry (Lisa) Ackerman, of North Platte, Neb.; and five stepgrandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Andrew, Elizabeth and Katie Ackerman.
