Ruben Schnabel, 91
August 24, 1913 - July 10, 2005
Funeral services for Ruben A. Schnabel were held Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., at Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ, Tripp, with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Music was furnished by Julie Gray, soloist, and Shelly Finck, organist.
Interment was made in the church cemetery. Casketbearers were Tim Getty, Charles Hoenke, Craig Schnabel, Curt Schnabel, Gary Schnabel, and Jim Schnabel.
Ruben Alvin Schnabel was born August 24, 1913, at Tripp to Karl and Christina (Wiederrich) Schnabel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Friedens Reformed Church. He attended the Schlenker District #19 country school through the eighth grade. After the death of his father, he assisted his mother with the family farm and the raising of his younger siblings.
On June 4, 1944, he married Inez Lunn at the Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ in Tripp. He continued farming and worked for the Lyman County Highway Department until retiring in 1980 and then moving to Alexandria. He was a member of the Grace Reformed Church, Mitchell.
He passed away on Sunday, July 10, at Sioux Valley Hospice, Sioux Falls, at the age of 91 years.
He is survived by his wife, Inez; six children, Robert and wife, Doris, Presho, David and wife, Anita, Sioux Falls, Linda Schnabel, Sioux Falls, Michael, Hutchinson, Kan., Jacqueline and husband, Jim Rucks, Rice, Minn., Christi Russo, Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Curtis Schnabel and wife, Ethy, Tripp; sister, Lilly Hoenke, Parkston; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Schnabel, Tripp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roland and Reno.
