Mrs. Jacob Alexander died at her home in Colby Friday evening at 7:30 o?clock
after being ill with pneumonia and pleurisy for three days. Funeral services
were held at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby Tuesday
afternoon, Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiating, and internment was made in the
Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Walter Wiersig, Charlie Huhn, John Marx,
Alvin Brehm, Hugo Havermann and Henry Ortmeier. Lucille and Lillian Schnabel,
grand children, acted as flower girls.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Katherine Huber, was born in Russia on
March 17, 1877, thus reaching the age of 62 years and eight months. She was
married to Jacob Alexander in Russia on June 12thm 1897. They came to the
United States on July 25th, 1901, and lived in Hutchinson county, South Dakota,
until June 1930, when they moved to the town of Hull and engaged in farming.
For the past four years, they resided in the city of Colby.
Surviving are her husband and nine children ? John Alexander of Shafer, Calif.,
Christ Alexander of Freeman, So. Dak., Mrs. Lydia Schnabel of Colby, Mrs.
Gottlieb Schnabel of Unity, Mrs. Fred E. Braun of Hartford, Mrs. Edith Schnabel
of Appleton, Fred Alexander of Colby, Adeline and Vera of Colby. Also two
brothers and one sister ? Gottlieb Huber of Harrold, So. Dak., Jacob Huber of
Harvey, No. Dak., and Mrs. Barbara Schmidt of Romania, Europe. Also sixteen
grand children.
